SPRING MAINTENANCE!

SPRING MAINTENANCE!

Spring Electrical Maintenance | Interior/Exterior

After the cold winter months its time to get in the habit of checking and maintaining a routine for electrical maintenance. Below is a checklist of several spring electrical routines that should be dealt with come the warmer.

Spring Is Here: here are some electrical updates to make this coming spring.

Warming spring temperatures remind us that summer is just around the corner. This can leave homeowners unprepared for the troubles associated with hotter weather and the need for upkeep. Want to know the top 4 maintenance steps for interior and exterior maintenance? – See Below:

1. Interior Spring Maintenance :

  • Change your ceiling fan rotation back to a counter-clockwise direction. This will help keep the room as cool as possible during warmer weather.
  • Test all smoke/CO detectors to make sure they are working. Check all backup batteries. Lightly vacuum the unit surface several times a year to prevent dust from accumulating on the sensors.
  • Vacuum fan grills to remove surface dust to prolong the life of the motor.
  • Inspect and vacuum the back of your refrigerator/stand up freezer for debris and dust which can reduce the energy efficiency and create a fire hazard.

2. Exterior Maintenance:

  • If you have any power tools for your garden make sure to check that they do not have any broken wires or plugs. If so, a replacement will be needed before use.
  • Replace all exterior lighting if it seems to be dimming or burnt out.
  • Make sure the exterior lighting around your home is free of nests as during warmer climates birds tend to use outside lighting for supports.
  • Take down Christmas lights as most seasonal lights are not for sure all-year. Exposure causes the cords to become fragile under the sun’s warmer rays.
  • Make sure there is no possibility of fallen branches around any overhead cables. Call a professional if this task is in need of a licensed arborist.
  • See that all exhaust vents are free of clutter and debris.
  • All exterior water features require grounding. Ensure that the grounding is functioning correctly.
  • A generator should be serviced annually. Some units may need an additional service if used heavily during winter months.
